PlaySoccer™ News

PlaySoccer™ exhibition match.

This week the  PLAYSOCCER™ coaches took some time out from delivering soccer sessions across New England to put the soccer cleats on to play themselves! An exhibition match saw two teams formed within the coaches; The ‘Pink Team’ for October’s Breast cancer awareness month and the ‘Yellow Team’ in support of the ‘Livestrong’ organization.

Both teams took to the field in an enjoyable but competitive manner, showcasing some great skills and technique. Owner, David Gates stated “It was a great day in which all the coaches, whether they had been at the company 3 months or 3 years could come together and be part of such a worthwhile experience.”

The standard of soccer was of a high caliber and it was obvious the coaches were practicing what they preach with some great pass and move soccer. Although the game was just a ‘friendly’ game it was obvious the competitive nature of the athletes took over as neither team wanted to lose to their peers. As a result the Yellow and Pink teams shared 8 goals in a 4-4 tie. A penalty shootout was the only way to split the teams with the Yellow team coming out on top by the narrowest of margins 5 goals to 4.

The  PLAYSOCCER™ coaches are now back out in your communities coaching the youngsters again. If you are looking for some expert coaching guidance, just call the PLAYSOCCER™ office.

World Soccer Update

LiverpoolChelseaWeekend's Big Clash Liverpool V Chelsea

There is no love lost between these two sides and that will be the case again on Sunday when the sides meet for the first time this season. Liverpool have had a poor start but seem to have found their feet lately with two good wins against Blackburn and Bolton. Chelsea are flying at the moment, Five points clear at the top and got a great away win at Blackburn last week.

Over the last five years in the Premier League and Champions League these teams have had some huge battles. The games are always tight affairs and usually decided by the odd goal. Last season Chelsea dominted Liverpool in both Premier League games. Liverpool have had a lot of joy at Anfield against Chelsea recently Fernando Torres has been the key player. Check out Torres's Goal form 2008!

Both sides will be at full strength on Sunday and even though Liverpool are 13 points behind Chelsea, a win could ignite their season and they would be right back on track. Chelsea will want to just keep on getting results. Some feel they have not been tested yet this season. Whatever you believe they are in for a test on Sunday.

Bale Lights up the Champions League

Gareth Bale has shown great potential over the last two years whilst playing for Tottenhan Hotspur. The back end of last season he showed everyone what he is all about and has carried that on into the current campaign.

At only 21, Bale is being monitored by some of Europe's top clubs. Some people believe that Bale will eventually want to play for a team that can consistently challenge for honors.

Bale's recent displays against Inter Milan have been outstanding. In the two Champions League games, Bale scored a hat-trick away from home and set two goals up at home. The video above shows all the action. Watch and Enjoy!

Help our partner teach children

How to help!

For the past three years, our partner, a new sports charity called Coaches across Continents; has been funded by its founder.

They have won global awards, and are seen as the global leaders in this new field of sport for social development. They have grown from one program in September 2008 to 18 programs in 2010, 6 African countries and 1 in Haiti.....900 teachers, 90,000 children.

What they have not done is fund raise! In fact, all of their African partner programs raise more money per year than they do!

In order to cope with the incredible demand for Coaches across Continents programs they recently added a great person to develop a strategy for their sustainable development. Last year they raised $14,000 (fourteen thousand) so obviously they need to raise money.
